Crack Willow is often found along the banks of streams and rivers.
It is a fast-growing tree and can reach a height of 50 to 100 feet. It flowers from April to May and is known to attract wildlife. It gets its name as it is very susceptible to wind, ice and snow and parts of the tree break of easily.
Its broken twigs and branches can take root easily thereby enabling it to colonise new areas once the twigs have fallen into waterways.
