“English hawthorn can grow up to 40 feet in height.

The main feature is its white or pink flowers found in spring during the months of April to May. Its fruit is fleshy, red in colour and attracts birds.

It is said to be a very valuable medicinal herb as it is used for treating disorders of the heart and circulation system. Western herbalists consider it a ‘food for the heart’ as it increases the blood flow to the heart muscles and restores normal heart beat.
