“Longan is a tropical tree native to South Asia.
The fruit is known as Dragon Eye in China as it resembles an eyeball when its fruit is shelled. The black seed emerges through the translucent flesh like a pupil or iris.
The popular fruit is sweet, juicy and eaten fresh. It is often used in East Asian soups, snacks, desserts, either fresh or dried, sometimes canned with syrup. The taste is different from lychees as it has a drier sweetness.”
